PRINTING
ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PRINTING
All Tacx® custom water bottles are designed, made, printed, and shipped exclusively in/from The Netherlands.
At TacxCUSTOM we print exclusively using screen print, also known as silk screen or serigraph printing. Screen print is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto the substrate; in this case the water bottle. Screen printing is the preferred method of printing custom water bottles as the print is applied thicker, lasts longer, and has a higher level of vibrancy compared to other printing techniques (e.g., digital printing, etc.).
We can print up to 12 colors onto a single water bottle, but this requires a second production run. In other words, our state-of-the-art printer can print up to six (6) colors during a single production run, and we suggest keeping your bottle design to six (6) print colors or less.
Yes, we need to print a white underlay onto all colored water bottles when printing a primary color (e.g., blue, celeste, green, orange, pink, etc.). No white underlay is required when printing a non-primary color, however, called achromatic colors, and such colors include black, gold, grey, silver and white. Please note if white is not part of your design and you are printing on a colored bottle, then the white underlay is considered a print color and screen (i.e., set-up fee).
Yes, we can print custom water bottles with a high-gloss or glossy ink finish; this is considered our ‘standard’ finish.
Yes, we can print custom water bottles with a matte or no gloss ink finish, but only when printing in CMYK, also know as 4-Color Process, or Process Printing. CMYK, and acronym for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (i.e., Black), is a subtractive color model, meaning colors are produced by subtracting or absorbing light from the background color.
No, we are not able to print using inks that have a metallic finish.
No, we are not able to print using inks that have a reflective night-time or safety finish.
The print color format of our Tacx® custom printed water bottles is Pantone® Print Matching System (PMS), so the colors are called PMS. For more information about the Print Matching System and the range of PMS colors, please visit Pantone online.
