CMYK
SPECIFICATIONS FOR FULL COLOR PROCESS PRINTING
It is possible that part of your design may have to be made up in CMYK or additional Pantone PMS colors. If this is the case, then please be advised that full color CMYK process printing results in a matte, pixelated print that can deviate from the final artwork. As a reference, our raster size is 34dpi.
The following summarizes the file type specifications for sending artwork via email. These specifications are for final artwork and approval files, and the files used in printing your Tacx® custom printed water bottles. Please note all files must be in vector format, we do not accept pixel files, and we suggest using Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files only for all artwork.
Adobe Illustrator 8,0 or Higher (for .eps or .ai Files)
Adobe Photoshop 5,0 or Higher (including Adobe InDesign)

PRINT COLORS
NUMBER OF COLORS THAT CAN BE PRINTED ON A WATER BOTTLE
The Production Team can print up to 12 colors onto a single water bottle, but this requires a second production run. In other words, our state-of-the-art printer can print up to six (6) colors during a single phase production, or up to 12 colors with double-phase printing.
We print exclusively using screen print, also known as silk screen or serigraph printing. Screen print is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, in this case the water bottle. Screen printing is the preferred method of custom printing water bottles as the print is applied thicker, lasts longer, and has a higher level of vibrancy when compared to digital printing, for example.

PRINT SIZE
MINIMUM THICKNESS OF PRINT LINE, MAXIMUM SIZE OF QR CODE
Different from the raster size when printing using CMYK technology, the minimum thickness of a print line when using our screen printing process is 0,175mm, or 0,5pt. Part of the reason for requiring a vector file for all artwork is that we can increase the line size if it is below the minimum thickness. In order to ensure that a QR code is readable when printed on water bottles, the maximum print size of a QR code is 25x25mm.
We need to print a white underlay onto all colored water bottles when printing in a primary color (e.g., blue, celeste, green, orange, pink, etc.). No white underlay is required when printing in a non-primary color, however, called achromatic colors, and such colors include black, gold, grey, silver and white. Please note that if white is not part of your custom design and you are printing on a colored water bottle, then the white underlay is considered a screen print (i.e., set-up fee) and print color.
